Negative dieting phrases don’t actually change your behavior.
It’s time to eliminate these phrases and use healthier ones instead.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Which of the phrases in this lesson are you most likely to say? Write them down.
Fortunately, I’ve gotten past most of these statements. But many years ago, I was really stuck on saying “I blew it” and then eating a lot more as a result.
Even though I don’t use that phrase anymore, once in awhile, I still slip into that behavior.
2. Draw a line through those phrases to indicate you won’t say them anymore.
I blew it.
3. For each one, create a positive phrase that’s the opposite of the old one.
I try to catch it early when I might be tempted to eat more because I “blew it.” I tell myself to stop NOW, and make great choices the rest of the day.
