To stop your pattern of reaching for food as a quick fix, you have to stick with your diet even during times when you don’t feel like it.
On a bad day when you’re tempted to “not care,” remind yourself that you are worth it and you deserve to improve your life and your health.
Paul was very determined to stay on his diet plan and reach his goal. Most days, he felt strong with his program, but once in a while, he got discouraged and stopped caring.
One day he told me, “During lunch, I went to the bakery and came back to my office with a big piece of chocolate cake. And was it ever good! But now, I wish I had cared a little more before I gave in and ate it.”
After his chocolate cake episode, Paul vowed that he wouldn’t stop caring, no matter what. So he put a note on his computer screen where he would see it as soon as he got to work.
Every morning, he began his day by reading this: “I do care! I will always care! And I will make it!”
In most cases, when you don’t feel like sticking with your diet plan, it’s not that you don’t care. It’s more likely a sign that something else requires your attention.
When you’re tempted to stop caring, dig past your excuses to see what might be getting to you in life. Rather than just giving up and deciding you don’t care about your goals, take care of the real issues that are getting in your way.
Today’s assignment (My answers are in blue)
1. Think about times when you are likely to decide you don’t care any more. Write a list of these times or situations.
When I get totally frustrated with work, especially contract people such as website staff
When I want nurtured with cookies
When I want to have fun such as on the weekend!
2. Make a sign that says “I do care!” Place it where you can see it easily, such as on your refrigerator, mirror or computer screen. Remind yourself at least a dozen times today that deep down, you actually do care.
I DO CARE!!!
3. Write down a few ways to help you remember how much you care.
Say to myself, “Of course, I care!” Repeat this a lot of times today
Remember the outcomes I want, and how it will FEEL when I reach my goal.
