You can actually use a teddy bear or other stuffed animal to help you heal.
Instead of keeping thoughts and sadness inside, you can share them with this friend.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Choose a favorite stuffed animal to talk to about your thoughts and feelings.
I still have that wonderful little white bear.
I also have a fairly large Winnie the Pooh Bear I love talking to.
2. Plan a time when you can be alone and have a visit with this friend.
Wow-I can’t even do this today! Just holding my white bear brings so many body memories. I’m blessed because I had a great counselor some years later who helped me achieve healing and peace.
3. Sit with the friend and talk through anything you wish. It might be related to a loss, but could also be about current frustrations or needs. Record how that went.
I remember a particularly difficult time many years ago when Pooh Bear became my counselor for a few months. I would force myself to talk to him for at least 45 minutes at a time and I would write down my thoughts and insights. It really worked and it helped me make some amazing progress through that hard time.
