From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 77
Sabotage happens only if you allow it.
Even if someone is intentionally trying to make you slip up, stay strong and committed to your plan.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Watch for people or situations that might sabotage your efforts. Record what you notice.
This happens sometimes at restaurants where the wait staff will push me to eat more or to finish my food.
Even though it’s not intentional sabotage, I also run into this at events and family gatherings.
2. Choose a response you will feel comfortable saying when this happens. Write it down, then practice saying it out loud.
To wait staff, I will say “That was just the right amount. Thank you.” I never say “I’m on a diet” or “I’m full.” These statements seem to challenge people to make you eat more.
3. Record what happens when you use this response to avoid sabotage.
I love the “not just yet” phrase and use it a lot. I’m always amazed at how people leave you alone when you postpone eating.
