From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 73
If you slip up on holidays or other special events, mentally create the day exactly as you had wanted it.
For example, pretend that Valentine’s Day went perfectly, then write down the things you would have done.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Look at the calendar and identify the next special holiday that will include food temptations.
Several holidays with lots of candy and food are coming this fall. I’m going to focus on Halloween (Oct. 31st) and have a great plan for it.
2. Write a list of three things you will do to manage that day when it comes.
With any holiday that involves food, I have to plan ahead so I don’t get caught by things like discounts on candy.
This is especially true at Halloween. I tell myself, “They are tiny candy bars so it won’t be a problem.” Silly me!
3. Create a reminder note for your plan and put it on the calendar or on your phone. Record what you did.
Don’t go near the candy display before Halloween as well as right after the holiday.
Visit family members or go shopping instead of being home for “trick or treat” time.
I did all of this last year and it worked great. Saved me a lot of “tiny” calories that become a lot of calories!
