From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 71
A setback doesn’t have to ruin your weight-loss efforts. Instead of considering it a disaster, view a setback as a gift.
Let it be a time of learning and renewal, rather than a dent in your belief that you can be successful.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Recall a time when you’ve had a setback. Write about how you handled it.
Last summer, I suddenly developed a heart problem of atrial fib. After a few trips to the emergency room and numerous doctor visits, I felt pretty discouraged as well as worried about my health. I did not handle it well, and my healthy eating and exercise plan went out the window.
2. Create a setback plan you can pull out quickly when you need it.
Catch it quickly! Don’t let days or weeks go by without working on this.
Pull out my list of what works (tracking, walking, lots of water) and put it in place immediately.
3. Pretend you’ve had a setback, then start using your new plan. Record your thoughts.
This makes so much sense. I will use that list today and make sure I’m staying on track with my goals.
By the way, my heart problem is totally controlled now and I’m in great health again.
