From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 66
This lesson still makes me laugh as I remember the night I kicked the kettles. Such a funny event, but it brought lots of laughter and relief from stress and loneliness.
During times when we’re hurting or feeling weak and vulnerable, it’s easy to think that eating will fix the problem.
But instead of reaching for ice cream or cookies, during difficult times, pull out your tools for nurturing and self-care and make them a part of your day.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Recall a time when strong emotions made you want to eat.
Since moving from Denver to our new home in Iowa, I’ve had a lot of times when I feel lonely and sad. It takes such as long time to build new friendships and even though I have lots of great acquaintances, I’m still longing for a close friend.
2. Identify the feelings that were prompting your desire for food.
At times, I feel…
Sad
Lonely
Frustrated
Anxious
3. Create a short list of things you could have done instead of eating.
I’m still working on this, but I have a lot of good things in my life. I’m building my endurance back up so I can play league tennis again. I’m also doing home decorating and organizing projects which I enjoy. I’m also working on my piano skills again.
