From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 41
Emotional eating or using food as a friend happens to all of us at times.
Keep learning how to identify and express your emotions rather than shoving them away with food. Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. List three of the most common times or situations where you do emotional eating.
With people, especially family and social groups
When life feels empty or times when I’m missing things such as wishing I had children or grandchildren.
When I feel stressed or anxious, especially with writing and book marketing.
2. For each one, add details including what might be going on or causing you to eat.
People – I want to belong and connect!
Wishing I had more friends in our new home here in Iowa, not feeling totally settled.
I often feel anxious about whether people like my work or will buy my books.
3. For each one, write a plan for how you can take care of the real issue instead of reaching for food. Watch for times to use this today.
People- trust that I do belong. Reach out to others and help them feel cared about.
Work more on building new friendships. Plan times for meeting over coffee.
Let go of fears. Read my book reviews and listen to my client feedback which is usually very good.
Live feeling strong and committed to my work. Do it in the fear! (Day 10)
