From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 38
With an emotional cold, you feel a little moody, discouraged and slightly depressed. You just feel an emotional letdown or a sense of emptiness.
Learn to recognize the symptoms and start treating it right away.
1. Create a first-aid kit for the next time you get an emotional cold.
I don’t seem to have an emotional cold right now, but I have sure had my share of them over the years. Often I will struggle with one during times when my work is especially challenging or not going well.
My first aid kit contains several packets of my favorite teas (Lady Grey, English Breakfast and a few herbal ones.)
It also has a devotional or a personal growth book and a playlist of some happy music to perk me back up.
2. Write a list of things you can do to help you recover when one hits.
Take time for myself. Do lots of reading, tea drinking and listening to music.
Seek out someone to have lunch or coffee with. Some of my friends have very hard life challenges right now, and being around them makes my life look easy.
3. Do one of the thing on your list today. It might help prevent you from getting an emotional cold.
This afternoon, I will go out to a new coffee shop for an afternoon break. I will read for a while, and write in my journal.
I am currently reading an interesting book called “The Motivation Myth.” It’s for many areas of life, and it fits well for weight loss.
