From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 30
Rather than chase the elusive feelings of happiness, pay attention to areas where you feel blessed.
Appreciate the people you love, be grateful for the good things around you, and let others know you are feeling blessed.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Create a one-day plan for extreme self-care. Include non-food things that feel nurturing.
My plan for self-care today:
Exercise this afternoon at my health club, even if I don’t feel like it.
Listen to music, choose upbeat music that will energize me and perk me up
Do some study on my marketing course which I enjoy.
2. Do each of the things on your list, and record how it felt to take extra care of yourself.
I have to push myself to do self-care. I tend to take care of everyone else, sometimes at my own expense.
By the way, that story about me starting to bake cookies is real. I can even picture the kitchen that day and how I gathered the ingredients and put them on the counter. Somehow, my husband’s comments helped me recognize my emotional needs, and I put everything back and didn’t bake any cookies.
3. Write a list of ways you are blessed right now. Read your list several times today.
I am blessed…
I have a good home and a husband who is kind and attentive (most of the time)
My health is good again- my struggles with anemia and A-fib are resolved and I’m able to exercise without getting overly tired or short of breath. Yeah!
I have fun activities in my life such as my book club, lunch with friends and some great music concerts coming up.
I have a good family, friends, my dogs.
I live in a safe environment- my home has a lovely screen porch where I can listen to birds singing and appreciate the day.
