From 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss, Day 45
Any time you start a new job or move to a different home, don’t wait for months to “fix things up.”
Take immediate steps to make yourself feel comfortable and emotionally safe, even in a brand-new setting.
Here are my answers to the three questions at the end of the lesson.
1. Write a plan for creating a safe place.
I will go back to a room in my basement that I’ve used as a safe place in the past. I have it mostly set up, but need to clean it and add some meaningful things such as a new silk plant.
2. Set up and personalize the area. Describe what’s in your safe place and how it looks.
It’s the room with my piano. It has nice pictures on the wall as well as a comfortable chair and a small table I can use as a desk. I set my music player back up so I can listen to my calming music.
3. Spend at least ten minutes in your safe place today. Write about what you did and how it felt.
I’m looking forward to using that space a lot again. It’s very calming and grounding to sit in a place with no distractions and a cozy atmosphere. I will go there later today and enjoy a cup of tea in that nice setting.
